Do you need a passport?
To travel to the United States from Europe, you will first need to apply for a visa. A visa is a stamp in your passport that allows you to enter a country. The United States requires that people who travel from certain countries go through a visa process. A few countries, such as Iran, North Korea, and Syria are not permitted to enter the United States, and anyone who does so may be returned.
How long?
New US travel restrictions mean that you will no longer be able to enter the country if you are from Europe. The restrictions don’t apply to those who are citizens of Canada, Mexico, and most Latin American countries. The restrictions only apply to citizens of the following European countries:

So what this means is that while you can still fly into the US from Canada, Mexico, Australia, and South Africa, you won’t be able to fly into the US from Europe. How much does it cost?
Air travel to the US has been gradually increasing, and it’s no surprise that the popularity has increased as well. You can now fly to 30 cities from Europe. The total number of flights is expected to rise from 838 in 2009 to about 12,300 by 2035. Meanwhile, the cost of flying to the US is expected to rise by up to 30% during that time. So, how much does it cost to travel to the US now? A ticket for a return trip on a budget airline can cost less than $400. A two-week trip to the US for one person costs about $2,000. If you want to fly to one of the top 15 cities in the US, a ticket from Europe can cost anywhere between $1,000 and $10,000. Note: To be able to buy an air ticket to the US, you need to be an EU citizen, a resident in one of the 28 EU countries, or an EEA citizen (which includes Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland).

This November, the United States and the European Union (EU) have created an agreement that has changed the rules for the visa waiver program. The program had previously allowed citizens of EU countries to travel to the U.S. without the need for a visa. The EU member countries have now agreed that they will not enforce any new rules on the U.S. until the U.S. enacts similar rules for them.

Before travelling to the US, you may need to apply for a visa. This may depend on your nationality, your reason for visiting the US, and how long you are planning to stay in the country.
